This coming Saturday on 7th September, Gozo will be donning its rainbow colours to celebrate the third Annual Gozo Pride March, marking 20 years of Pride for Malta.

This means this year’s celebration is especially meaningful, as it coincides with the remarkable milestone of 20 Years of Pride—two decades of embracing love, diversity, and the resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“LGBTI+ Gozo is proud to stand in solidarity with the Gozitan community as we celebrate a day dedicated to love, diversity, and acceptance,” the organisation expressed in a statement.

Pride is an important time for the LGBTQIA+ community because it commemorates those who have fought for gender and sexual equality, honours the progress that has been made, and inspires our community to live authentically and inclusively.

The day begins with the first Gozo Pride Village hosted by LGBTI+ Gozo. From 10am to 5pm, Villa Rundle will be transformed into a colourful gathering of LGBTQIA+ NGOs, local artisans, and advocates, where participants can get information about services, connect with the community, and purchase Pride merchandise in preparation for the march.

The Village will conclude with a performance from stunning Gozo-native and drag artist Olivia Lilith at 4.30pm.

The Gozo Pride March will begin at 6pm on Triq ir-Repubblika, just outside Arkadia, as attendees make their way up to It-Tokk and Independence Square. LGBTI+ Gozo will be joined by fellow activists and NGOs, along with the community to stand in solidarity for inclusivity, acceptance, and unity.

The march will culminate in Independence Square and following the march, the festivities will continue at La Grotta with the official Pride Afterparty hosted by ARC, starting at 8pm.

Tickets can be found on the official Malta Pride website.

“This Pride, Gozo is not just celebrating—we are honouring the love, diversity, and unity that define the LGBTQIA+ community. This celebration is a true labour of love and couldn’t be possible without the support from the Ministry for Gozo, the Human Rights Directorate and Parliamentary Secretariat for Reform and Equality, our fellow LGBTQIA+ NGOs, and our wonderful volunteers and sponsors.”

“Together, we continue to build a future where every person is embraced for who they are, so join us for a beautiful gathering and take part in diversity,” LGBTI+ Gozo concluded.

LGBTI+ Gozo recognises that while Pride is a beautiful celebration, it can also be a struggle for those who are not able to openly be themselves. LGBTI+ Gozo remains devoted to the well being of our community and reminds LGBTQIA+ people and their families that we offer free counselling services to our members. This initiative ensures that everyone has access to compassionate support in a safe and welcoming environment, and if you or someone you know is interested in accessing this service, please contact +356 9935 6622 or [email protected] .
