Pjazza Tritoni Will Become A Pride Village And Host A Major Eurovision Night During EuroPride In September
New details about the upcoming Malta EuroPride festivities have been announced and it’s good news for Eurovision fans.
For ten days, between 7th and 17th September, Pjazza Tritoni will be transformed into a Pride Village, the beating heart of EuroPride.
Lovin Malta is EuroPride’s media partner.
The entire programme of events will be revealed in the coming weeks and months, but artistic director Toni Attard made a few announcements at a EuroPride press conference in Valletta today.
“As expected there will be a Eurovision night,” Attard said, joking that he was threatened with dismissal after questioning the need for such an event.
A Eurovision night during a Maltese EuroPride looks destined to be a hit. The Eurovision is beloved within LGBTIQ+ communities, and Malta is kind of fixated on the competition.

The official opening will take place on 7th September, featuring music by local and international artists. EuroPride will conclude on 16th September with a massive Pride March and a concert at the Fosos, which will feature some “international artists who won’t need any introduction”.
From music and dance shows, to drag, burlesque, cabaret, film and literature events, and even a contemporary circus, EuroPride Valletta promises to be a feast for the senses to satisfy the diverse tastes of the LGBTIQ+ community and its allies.
A public art exhibition on the history of Pride Marches, including in Malta, will also take place, and spaces will be set up for NGOs to promote their services.
“We don’t just want EuroPride to be a week of celebrations, we want it to be a meaningful week of substance,” Parliamentary Secretary for Equality Rebecca Buttigieg said. “We want this event to build a legacy of equality and respect so that future generations won’t have to fight fights that should have been won a long time ago.”
“It will be a public manifestation of inclusion and won’t be dominated by politicians. Let’s fill the streets with love, colours and the beauty of life. I’m convinced that Malta will rise to the occasion and emerge with flying colours.”
