Watch: Maltese Mother And Son Call Out Hate Comments Against LGBTIQ+ Community

A Maltese mother and son took to social media to call out hate comments against the LGBTIQ+ community via their TikTok account @ham_n_cheese

In the video, the duo recounted the son’s coming out experience and the struggles he faced in his journey towards accepting his sexuality, so much so that the mother recalled a conversation where her son told her “Mum I want to die”. She described the difficult conversation they had together which ultimately led to her son coming out.

His mother went on to call out people who wrote hateful comments against the LGBTIQ+ community on an interview conducted by TVM with members of the public about the passing of Pope Francis.In the interview, one of the individuals referenced the late Pope’s work with the LGBTIQ+ community saying that “he went against God’s word and there is written in the Bible that these things go against God’s word”.

The mother shared how the comments on this interview post were just as hateful and harmful against the community and spoke about how comments like these contribute to youth struggling with their sexual identity.The mother-son duo urged for the community to be more compassionate and accepting towards people of diverse sexual and gender orientations.
