Every year, more and more tourists come from all over the world to visit our beautiful island. With historical, cultural and social sights to be seen all around island, there’s a lot to see in Malta… but some sights are definitely more popular than others.

Here are this island’s eight bestsellers; a list of places where, should you be passing through, it might be a good idea to have a dictionary handy to deal with the thousands of tourists flocking the streets on a daily basis.

1. Mdina

The beautiful, medieval former capital of Malta.

With so many views and historical antiquities littering every street in the fortified city, Mdina is a historian’s dream.  Recent renovations have gone a long way in in making this city look and feel spectacular.

From recognisable Game of Thrones locations and the imposing Cathedral to some of the best cakes on the island, it’s not surprising the streets will be packed with tourists taking it all in.

2. Sandy beaches

It’s still early days, and unsurprisingly the beaches are already flooding with tourists.

With Malta being an island in the middle of the Mediterranean, we have the  luxury of being surrounded by sea, along with fantastic beaches all around.  Get ready to fight for a place, and wrestle for sand space it’s going to be a long summer.

And while the north of Malta has a beautiful beach on every inlet, there are definitely those beaches that are even more popular than others. Here’s a list of the island’s most loved beaches.

3. Paceville

Footloose and Havana in particular, but who are we kidding; Paceville is going to be a wonderfully diverse see of tourists for the next couple of months.

Cheap booze, great parties, an awesome environment, and other partygoers  with the same mindset as yours.  We’re only young once, and tourists are very quickly overwhelmed when they arrive in an island which literally has an entire clubbing town.

4. Valletta

The capital city of a country might be an easily predictable guess, but when a capital is as small as Valletta, “flocking” takes a whole new meaning.

With picturesque views, shopping outlets along with many national moments, and historical sites, there is something for every kind of tourist to find. Having recently undergone a makeover fitting of the European Capital of Culture, Valletta is going through a very busy 2018.

5. Comino

There’s a very good reason why every time you go to Comino, it’s literally littered with people, and the reason is staring right at you.

One of the most photographed places on the Maltese island, can you blame anyone for instantly falling in love with the tiny island between Malta and Gozo?

The Blue Lagoon, the sights of the boats and islands in the distance… Comino is a fantastic place to go at least once per summer.

6. Sliema

Malta’s shopping centre.

With restaurants, cafes and juice bars popping all over, Sliema’s bustling nature dotted with shopping malls offers something for everyone. Some of the best eateries on the island can also be found here, and the nearly endless promenade all around the town definitely helps.

7. Buġibba

Buġibba was, is and will forever be the north’s laidback version of Sliema.

With thousands of tourists filling the hotels, streets, beaches, restaurants, cafes, and fast food joints, Buġibba quickly became the tourist central, particularly with British people.
