A Fawlty Towers Dining Experience Is Coming To Malta!

A popular immersive comedy show where people get to be the guests of Fawlty Towers is on its way to Malta for two nights only…and tickets have already been snapped up.

The Faulty Towers Dining Experience takes the form of a three-course meal, served by actors playing Basil and Sybil Fawlty and the hapless Manuel. In typical Fawlty Towers style, the service promises to be a hilarious shambles from start to finish, although the food itself is supposed to be pretty good.

Only a third of the performance is scripted, with the rest of it completely improvised. Guests are encouraged to interact with the actors…complain that the food is cold or that your fork is dirty, demand a seat close to the window, or perhaps request a Waldorf salad and see what happens…

The shows will be held on 16th and 17th March at the Sheer Bastion in Senglea. Tickets were going for €60 apiece.

The comedy show has been running around the world since 1997, selling out from Edinburgh and Canada to Kenya and Sydney. The spelling of its name as ‘Faulty Towers’ is intentional to position it as a tribute to the old BBC Fawlty Towers sitcom.

John Cleese – who had played Basil Fawlty – threatened to sue the comedy show’s producers Interactive Theatre International two years ago, accusing them of copyright infringement. However, the producers responded that Cleese’s then-management had in 1997 told them they didn’t need a license for their show. Cleese never followed up on his threat.
