Statistician and researcher Vincent Marmara posted to his Facebook page about a survey conducted over the past week with a sample of 800 people. The margin of error of ±3.46%, and a confidence level of 95% among the entire population of Malta, they sought out to understand how Robert Abela currently compares to Alex Borg, as well as how Robert Abela compares to Adrian Delia.

Robert Abela vs. Adrian Delia:

Gap of 21.9% in favor of Robert Abela.

Among the general population, 45.7% told us they prefer Robert Abela, while 23.8% said they prefer Adrian Delia, 16.4% said “None,” 1.8% said “Others,” and 12.3% said “Don’t know.”

Robert Abela vs. Alex Borg:

Gap of 16.9% in favor of Robert Abela.

Among the general population, 45.2% told us Robert Abela, 28.3% told us Alex Borg, 12.3% said “None,” 2.1% said “Others,” and 12.1% said “Don’t know.”

Marmara continued on to say that the respective candidates for the position of Leader of the Nationalist Party, one has to consider other factors, including the popularity of the respective candidates among the Nationalist Party supporters themselves. This survey is a result of voting on national level rather than those voting for the Nationalist Party.

He concluded on the gap between the parties, saying that this research will be conducted shortly after the election of the new Leader of the Nationalist Party, when the political situation within the party is more stable.

The findings indicate that while Robert Abela maintains a clear lead over both Nationalist Party contenders, the gap between him and Alex Borg is notably smaller than the one with Adrian Delia. This suggests that Borg may present a relatively stronger challenge to Abela should he secure the PN leadership. However, it is important to note that these results reflect a snapshot in time, and the political landscape could shift once the Nationalist Party leadership race concludes and the party stabilises under new leadership.
