Annual Tal-Mixegħla Event Lights Up Siġġiewi Sqaure On Maundy Thursday
St Nicholas Square in Siġġiewi was transformed yesterday evening for the traditional Maundy Thursday (Ħamis ix-Xirka) event known as tal-Mixegħla.
Thousands flock to this square yearly to witness this traditional Holy Week event.
St Nicholas Square was transformed by Group Armar Siġġiewi into a spectacle, with 1,500 hand-made lanterns being lit in an artistic design of the cross and portraying the word “INRI”.
