Colombian Photographer Hospitalised With ‘Compromised Left Eye’ After Shocking Paceville Attack
During the celebrations of Argentina’s historic World Cup win, one fan’s day became a nightmare after he found himself being assaulted by a security guard in Paceville.
Lovin Malta spoke to the injured and deflated Sergio Ramirez, who recounted the events which led to the assault as he continues to recover in hospital.
Doctors said that Sergio has been left with two facial fractures as well a compromised left eye following the attack.
Sergio watched the game at a nearby restaurant in Paceville with his girlfriend before going to Bar Native to meet some friends and have a couple of drinks.
After finishing those drinks, he went with his girlfriend to a nearby club before deciding to go to another club, Bar Native, with his girlfriend and friends.
Whilst his girlfriend and friends were able to enter the bar, Sergio was asked to remove his cap by a bouncer. Sergio complied, removed his cap, and was allowed to enter.
However, Sergio said that “after about five seconds” he was pulled from the bar’s entrance, receiving no explanation from the bouncer.
Sergio then decided to take a photo of the bouncer.
This led to him being struck down. At this point, he begins to get punched and kicked on the floor. He attempted to escape, however he was unable to get out.

Sergio stated that he could not see who was attacking him, only mentioning that he could “hear my girlfriend screaming” as well as other people screaming in the vicinity after witnessing the assault.
After some time he managed to escape and go to hospital.
His eye injury is particularly devastating as Sergio is a photographer.
He ended by saying that the club hadn’t reached out to him as of yet. Sergio has made a police report and is currently waiting for further action to be taken from the police.
On the club’s end, it told Times of Malta that they outsource security from a third party, and that the incident had been referred to concerned contractor.
