‘Forgive Our Nation’: Meet The Facebook Group Which Routinely Posts Prayers For Joseph Muscat
“We lift up P.M. Joseph Muscat before Your throne. You know him from infinity, and You raised him up.”
“Beloved, have you complained against your Prime Minister? Remember Daniel”
These are a few select quotes from a Facebook page set up for a rather specific express purpose, to pray for Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
While it may look at first glance to have more than a few tinges of leader worship that would make Kim Jong Un proud, the page’s aims are purely biblical.
“We are one united Christian family, devoting ourselves to pray for the Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta and his family,” it says. “This in line with the biblical command [1 Tim 2]: ‘Pray for kings and others in power, so we may live quiet and peaceful lives…’.”
This prayer asks God to fill Joseph Muscat and his government with the spirit and fear of the Lord
This one asks people who complain about the Prime Minister to remember the story of Daniel in the Old Testament
This one asks God to pray for Joseph Muscat and his entire family. It left Ħabiba out though…
This prayer goes off script and asks God to protect the Armed Forces
And this is a prayer from one of the team members, all the way from South Africa
And if you think the page is too niche to ever gain traction, then think again. It has only been active for a few months but already shows clear signs that it is picking up, with people sending in their own prayers from Malta and all over the world. The only question now is whether all these prayers will in any way impact Joseph Muscat and convince him to change his ways.
