Activists from the Moviment Graffitti will be making their first community stop in Birżebbuġa this Sunday, as part of a nationwide tour aimed at raising awareness about proposed planning law reforms.

The group will be setting up an information stand in Birżebbuġa Parish Square between 9:30am and noon, in collaboration with the local organisation Għaqda Storja u Kultura Birżebbuġa.

During the event, campaigners will speak with residents about what they describe as “destructive planning laws”, listen to their concerns, and collect suggestions. The aim is to bring the ongoing national debate directly into Malta’s towns and villages, allowing communities to learn more about the reforms and how they may impact local development, quality of life and the environment.

The Birżebbuġa stop marks the launch of the Tour Ġustizzja għall-Artna, which will see activists visit localities across Malta in the coming months to engage residents and distribute information.

The campaign has been vocal about its opposition to a series of proposed planning changes, warning that they would weaken environmental safeguards and make it harder for communities to challenge controversial developments.

Sunday’s event invites residents to ask questions, learn more about the proposals, and share their views as discussions on the reforms continue nationally.
