‘It’s Not What You Think!’: Travel YouTuber Tells Followers To ‘Avoid Malta’
“Should you come to Malta in 2023? My answer is no.” Travel YouTuber Alex Mark blatantly told fellow tourists as he took viewers on a 15-minute walking tour of the Buġibba-Qawra area.
Along the way, he points out several main issues such as garbage disposal, poor planning construction as well as lack of “green spaces” and road safety, which prevents children from being able to “ride a bicycle or play outside”.
The YouTuber points out the fact that residents put out trash early in the morning, which is only collected much later in the day – resulting in rotting trash and an infestation of rats.
Strolling through Buġibba Pjazza, Mark points out the close proximity of a restaurant to an ongoing construction sight, adding that “if you want to have lunch or dinner near a construction site this is also available to you here”.
“I think this is the place in Europe with the biggest number of cranes and construction sites per capita,” he says.
Highlighting another issue in the square, the video the pavement consisting of “tiles you would probably use for a bathroom” – which doesn’t sound like a problem in the dry summer months. However, when winter finally makes an appearance, bringing bouts of rain, the tiles will become a slippery hazard – “a lot of people are going to be hurt,” he adds.
As he makes his way through the “never-ending construction site”, the travel YouTuber explains his experience during the July power-cuts, and then moves on to explore the streets of Qawra.
In Qawra, Mark tells the story of his encounter with a ” huge rat checking out watermelon peels” near the Qawra Primary School, before ending off the video with a reiteration of his sentiment to avoid Malta.
