Make Valletta Green Again? Garden Outside Parliament Will Become Permanent

A container garden which was erected outside the Parliament building at the entrance of Valletta is set to become a permanent feature of the capital city.

The outdoor garden in Freedom Square was originally meant to be temporary, as part of the annual Valletta Green Festival, a throwback to a garden that used to adorn the square in the past.

However, Valletta Cultural Agency chairman Jason Micallef announced that the garden will remain there after the festival is over, following positive feedback he received.

“Many people wanted to keep enjoying the flowers we planted in the square forever, and that’s what we did,” he said. “Beyond the calendar of cultural activities, the VCA is committed to the urban greening of Valletta because we truly believe that more green spaces are needed in our cities and villages.”
