Maltese village squares are beautiful things. They’re majestic, quaint, serene and inviting. They’re what make places instantly recognisable to anyone who doesn’t live in them, and what makes them home for the people who do.
Here’s a small selection of some of our favourite village squares.
1. Birgu

This sleepy pjazza is an all time favourite escape from the island density.
10. Mellieħa
The dramatic approach to this village square through a swerving hill is enough to make it a favourite. Stunning courtyards, steps, and buildings also have something to do with it.
