There’s nothing like a midweek festa concert to break up your routine and remind you that Malta has some of the best summer events in the world…

Mellieħa will be celebrating the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady tomorrow, and it’s the perfect way to kick off your September!

Mellieħa holds its festa later on in the summer, but that doesn’t make it any less special than the rest. Along with your usual antics, the Mellieħa band club, La Vittoria Band Club, will be hosting their annual appointment with two new and innovative concerts held outside the picturesque parish church… and they’re looking to be quite the blast.

The first concert will be held tomorrow at 8:30 pm and will include performances featuring work from Strauss, New Cuorey, Franz Listz and Zucchero, amongst many others.

The evening will be fall under the direction of Musical Director Mro. Ryan Mallia and compere Ms Pauline Aguise. They’ll also be joined by some well-known local names, including Baritone Louis Andrew Cassar, singer Daniel Cauchi, pianist John Cutajar, and Vuċijiet Vittorjani, the Band Club’s children’s choir led by Julia Grima and Claudia Vella.

The musical performance will also be accompanied by Danza C, a group of professional dancers, under the leadership of Ms. Christina Cauchi.

The second installment of the concert will be held on the 4th of September and will feature a band composed of 30 young musicians from La Vittoria School of Music, who will perform to the likes of Queen, Beatles, Frank Sinatra, The Tramps and Lady Gaga!

“Having young blood in the band’s veins meant the need for new opportunities to be allocated for these young musicians to exhibit their talent and hard work, as well as to motivate them to work in reaching their targets through such specific programs,” the Band said in a press release.

Participants include Julia Grima, Mireille Borg, Thea Gauci, Cassandra Scerri, together with the choir from the Band Club Vuċijiet Vittorjani. They’ll be under the direction of Assistant Musical Directors Mro. Hertian Gauci and Mro. Andrea Cassar for the evening.

If you’re looking for some midweek plans then this is definitely one you need to attend! An escape to the north of Malta for a night of celebrations and good music is really looking like the best way to take a break and unwind this week.
