Emergency nurse Daniel Said expressed his appreciation for Malta’s emergency departments in light of their quick response when a double-decker bus caught fire on the Mġarr Main Road last Wednesday.

Noting the exact timing of each development, Said laid out exactly how responders acted.

“16.22 – I noticed a plume of black smoke;”

“16.27 – Ambulance, fire, police and TM were all on site working to make the scene safe;”

“16.44 – Fire was put out and only minimal smoke still going on;”

“A response time of less than five minutes.”

The Hop-On, Hop-Off bus caught on fire and was completely devoured by the flames just before 4:30pm, with all emergency units working at breakneck speed to secure the area.

Thankfully no one appears to have been injured in the blaze, not least in part thanks to the prompt response from emergency workers.

Are you glad to have these people looking after our safety?
