Building something on weak and inappropriate foundations is something you should avoid – just look at your last relationship.

However, for some Maltese building developers, weak foundations are the reason they got into the game – and a new photo doing the rounds online shows just how dire the situation has become.

In the photo, a five-storey block of apartments at the corner of Triq Santa Venera and Triq il-Ħarrub in Msida ends in a questionable foundation of loose bricks, a handful of cement and some random pieces of wood and dirt.

The shocking photo, which was originally posted by NET News, has reportedly been in this state for weeks

Indeed, the bricks themselves are seemingly loosely placed atop each other, in the hope that someone won’t sneeze near them and send the whole block tumbling down.

The photo emerges following two months of building collapses in Malta, with three separate incidents leading to multiple Maltese families wondering where they would sleep that night… and countless others now looking at that crack in their roof and wondering if they are next.
