Science In The City Is Back For An All-New Interactive Experience

Malta’s go-to science and arts festival is back with its sixth edition this year. The annual Science in the City is the place to get your artistic side on and learn a thing or two about science in the most mind-boggling and creative way ever. Everything from theatre to live experiments and interactive exhibits will be present at this cool event.
1. Stuff your kids will love
Spazju Kreattiv will host Kids Dig Science, a puppet, art and science show and workshop full of interactive experiments and cool activities for children of all ages.
Malta Café Scientifique will be taking over the Spazju Kreattiv Cinema along with Magna Żmien.
A photographic and digital area space will be made available where technological research will be explored along with astronomy and interactive workshops.
2. Learn more about food and the environment
Plants, cocktails, nibbles and informative talks will be all the rage at Food Science. You will have the chance to play around with some pretty cool inventions while learning about how to be more self-sustainable when it comes to food and farming.
An area reserved for ecology and animals in the Great Siege Square will give you an insight into Maltas different ecosystems and the islands’ biodiversity.
3. The weird and the wonderful
Magicians, flame dancers and really cool acrobatic shows will be all the rage at Staging Science. Hosted outside the law courts, the show will present scientific concepts through a combination of human ingenuity and dance.
Esplora’s Shadows of Malta’s Times will focus on Maltese history, science and culture, all through the use of shadow puppets!
Alternatively, check out Pollution Solutions, where a series of a experiments will be conducted to help find the answer to shutting out the environment’s worst enemy.
4. Installations to watch out for
Of Mice, Carbon and Tritons will be hosting some pretty cool installations which include an augmented reality public sculpture, offering an exploration of carbon from an ecological, archaeological and morphological perspective.
If you’re into racing cars, the University of Malta students will be presenting their cool student-built car. You can totally hit two birds with one stone here as the Future of Water event will be held in the exact same area.
Cinexjenza will be exploring different layers of our seabed through their interactive art installation, along with a first-time screening of BEN.

5. Informative talks will be held
Talking Science is one of them. Topics like blockchain, biohacking, gender reassignment and terrorism will be discussed during this informative event. Or if that’s not up your alley, learn about diseases, plagues and medicine in Ordinance Street, and grab a class on origami and bracelet making.
