Siġġiewi Is Gearing Up For A Massive Grape Festival This Saturday

Mark your calendars, because Siġġiewi is about to turn purple.
On Saturday 13th September, Pjazza San Nikola will host Festa Għeneb fis-Siġġiewi 2025, a full-blown celebration of grapes, wine, food, history, and community spirit. Starting from 6pm, the village square will transform into a lively hub of Maltese culture and tradition.
The main attraction? A Grape Exhibition featuring different varieties harvested straight from Siġġiewi’s fertile fields, alongside an agricultural machinery showcase. There’ll also be a homemade wine competition and guided wine-tasting sessions paired with traditional Maltese bites, a true treat for foodies and wine lovers alike.
Cooking With The Mayor
One of the more unique experiences of the night will be “Fil-Kċina mas-Sindku”, where Mayor Julian Borg will join the Children’s Local Council and special guests in a live cooking demonstration using fresh, seasonal ingredients. This segment is supported by EU funds through Fondazzjoni Gal Majjistral.
History & Faith
Adding a spiritual twist, visitors can check out “Frott il-Fidi”, a church exhibition featuring rare 17th-century vestments tied to the Order of the Knights of Malta, who played a key role in shaping viticulture in the village.
A Taste Of Europe
Guests will also get the chance to explore artisanal products from Sicily and Spain, from local delicacies and wines to a stunning baroque parade inspired by Noto and a spectacular salt design display by the world-renowned Infiorata di Noto.
Music, Food & Fun For All Ages
Expect two entertainment zones, one with live music across genres, and another dedicated to traditional Maltese folk music, including għana. Add in food stalls, a crafts market, and a children’s play area, and you’ve got a festival designed for everyone.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mayor Borg said:
“The Grape Festival in Siġġiewi is more than a celebration of our fruit, it’s a tribute to our heritage, our faith, and the community spirit that unites us. We invite you all to join us for a truly special cultural experience.”
So whether you’re going for the grapes, the wine, the food, the music, or the history, this is one September night you won’t want to miss.
