With Malta gearing up to once again celebrate LGBT+ Pride in September, St Julians is the latest street to receive a rainbow upgrade in the run-up to Malta Pride Week 2019.

The initiative was motioned by the St Julian’s Local Council as gesture of inclusivity for all LGBT+ members within the local community.

St Julian’s mayor, Albert Buttigieg told Lovin Malta of the unveiling: “As one of the main cosmopolitan centres on the island, St Julian’s welcomes all. By doing this, we continue to encourage our residents to have an inclusive attitude.”

The crossing, located on Triq Santu Wistin just outside of the Eden Cinema has been given a splash of colour, setting the tone for Bay Street’s area to become an Instagram hot spot. The colourful Holiday Inn Express in Paceville is also just around the corner, providing the perfect Pride backdrops for all queer folk in Malta this year.

St Julian’s is now the third Maltese town to adopt a rainbow crossing, joining Floriana and St Paul’s Bay.
