‘Stop Acting Like Super One 2’ – PN Slams PBS Over Biased New Schedule

The Nationalist Party is calling out the national broadcaster for what it claims is straight-up partisanship in its brand-new autumn schedule.

In a statement on Monday, the PN accused PBS (Public Broadcasting Services Ltd) of turning into a mouthpiece for Labour, pointing to the fact that “many” of its discussion programmes are now being hosted by people either closely linked to the PL or holding positions of trust in government entities.

“PBS itself is confirming that it is everything but a station that belongs to all the people,” the PN said, branding the new line-up as “an insult to the intelligence of the Maltese and Gozitan people.”

Names like podcaster Ricky Caruana, Arts Council Malta boss Luke Dalli, and former ONE TV presenter Paula Cauchi have already raised eyebrows. The PN didn’t go into details, but they weren’t subtle about dubbing PBS as “Super One 2”, a nod to Labour’s broadcasting arm of the past.

The Opposition stressed that the public broadcaster should be free from interference and political bias, especially with a general election potentially on the horizon.

Still, the PN confirmed it will continue to appear on TVM programmes, saying it’s their duty to “act as a shield for the Maltese people” and ensure viewers “are exposed to the full truth.”

The statement was signed off by Shadow Broadcasting Minister Graziella Attard Previ.
