“I’ve been living in Malta my whole life and I’ve never seen a deer walking down Triq Burmarrad to St. Paul’s Bay,” Julianne Micallef said on Facebook late last night, posting a video of the deer on popular online forum RUBS Puppy Love.

According to a NET News report, it appears the deer escaped from the nearby Bird Park at about 11pm last night, prompting passers-by to capture the unique footage of the confused animal in the street.

“The poor thing was terrified,” another user, Clare Mamo, added, providing another photo of the deer in the area. “Police officers and members of Animal Welfare arrived to try and catch him, but he escaped in the fields opposite Scotts.”

Eventually, however, it seems like the deer was caught around Burmarrad, with NET News confirming that the animal was also unharmed by the end of what must have been a very confusing and frightening ordeal.
