Christmas traditions are important, from the classic gift-giving to the massive family meals – but one Maltese Santa Claus’ unique entrance act this year has already made international headlines, as well as some local sharks really, really happy.

Santa Claus was filmed entering a shark tank in the National Aquarium in Qawra, where the bearded Christmas figure proceeded to hand out food instead of gifts to the assembled fish and sharks, as you do.

In the video, one zebra shark seems to really be feeling the Christmas spirit, and gets up close to Santa, leading Maltese Aquarium Santa to start rubbing its belly and hugging the shark, melting hearts all over Europe.

The video soon went international, with Euronews featuring the Maltese Santa Claus in its famous No Comment section, as well as making it to Reuters’ Oddly Enough category
