WATCH: Marsamxett Harbour Had Some Unexpected Visitors Over The Weekend

Anyone who woke up early to enjoy the sun and the sea last Saturday might have run into a group of dolphins if they were on the east coast of the island.

A number of dolphins were filmed swimming inside Marsamxett bay opposite Valletta at around 8:30am. The dolphins were in a playful mood, and were seen breaching the water and swimming near boats.

Giuseppe Chiarenza was out that morning when he first saw the dolphins’ fins breaching the water.

“I often go out to sea, and I have already seen dolphins nearby, not often, but it happens – but I’ve never seen inside the port,” he said to Lovin Malta.

Giuseppe was not the only person who filmed the dolphins, but Giuseppe had one of the best seats on the island.

“I think it was a whole family, and seeing them in nature like that, there is no ticket worth the price,” he smiles.
