WATCH: Migrant Friends’ TikTok Dance Shows A Different Side To Life Inside Malta’s Open Centres
A TikTok of two migrants happily dancing inside one of Malta’s open centres has given people a rare and different peek inside the divisive centres.
Usually in headlines because of shocking conditions and even riots, Malta’s open centres like those in Marsa and ?al Far are mostly only portrayed in a negative light. The harmless and wholesome TikTok, however, offers up a completely different vibe… and it’s probably why it resonated so much with so many people.
Feysal Yare and his friend uploaded the clip just four days ago, but have already amassed over 13,000 views.
All smiles and slick moves, the two bust a couple of moves to Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato’s hit Solo.
As expected, it didn’t take too long for some of comments to turn toxic, with people seemingly angry at the two happy migrants.
“And here I am working for your faces,” one comment said, with another very worrying comment promising “one by one I’ll thrash you all.”
“I don’t know why they complain,” another said, apparently expecting migrants to always be sad or angry.
“Y’all mad for what? They’re just vibing,” one user quickly came to the two’s defence. “Bro, leave the racists talk, keep it up,” another encouraged the TikTokers.
