Birżebbuġa’s long disputed and controversial Lovin Malta tag of being the country’s Miami may have just come to an end. A video sent to Lovin Malta showing insane flooding in the town proves that it’s actually Malta’s Venice!

A quick look at St George’s Street in Birżebbuġa shows that’s it’s basically on its way to becoming it’s very own tarmac river.

The sudden rainstorms are the scourge of Maltese roads in general, and not just Birżebbuġa, all of which seem to flood to hilarious degrees the second heavy rainfall hits.

Last October, videos across Malta showed a deluge of water rising up to the tyres of a number of cars on the roads, while some people even took up surfing.
