Watch: Trudy Kerr Highlights Ta’ Qali Park’s Gravel Makeover

Malta’s beloved Ta’ Qali National Park is at the centre of a heated debate after podcaster Trudy Kerr highlighted its dramatic transformation, with much of the park now covered in gravel. Her post comes after local actor Thomas Camilleri drew attention to the changes, showing how the green space many locals cherish has been altered.

The controversy has sparked a petition by youth advocacy group Vuċi Kollettiva, which has already racked up over 2,041 signatures calling for the park’s greenery to be restored. Supporters argue the gravel damages biodiversity, traps heat, and makes the park less safe and welcoming for families, children, and pets.

Vuċi Kollettiva is urging authorities to bring back the grass, balance large events with everyday community use, and introduce eco-friendly improvements like better irrigation and water fountains. The petition continues to grow as residents push for Ta’ Qali to return as a vibrant green hub for everyone to enjoy.

How do you feel about this gravel makeover?
