Watch: ‘You Keep Failing Us’: Malta-Based Model Speaks Out On Domestic Violence

Malta-based model and special ed teacher Rossella has spoken out about domestic violence and the everyday struggles women face just to feel safe.
In a heartfelt video, Ross shared her exhaustion over the constant need to brace herself against “the stares”, “the comments”, and even “accidental touching”.
“I’m tired that to be a woman, I have to be hyper aware of just existing in public,” she said, voicing what so many women feel but often go unheard.
Ross also touched on the recent controversy sparked by local influencer Sarah Alfalah, who suggested that women, and only women, should be allowed to carry pepper spray for self-defence.
According to Ross, the backlash from men was immediate, with some arguing that the idea was unfair. She noted that some men even went so far as to suggest it’s a woman’s job to be ready to defend herself, dress better, avoid certain places, and avoid being alone.

The model highlighted the grim reality women face every day:
“We have to shrink our lives into safety measures just to exist and stay safe.”
But for Ross, the ultimate betrayal isn’t the harassment itself, it’s the denial of these actions. She called out the common “Not all men” response, explaining that it deflects responsibility rather than helping create a safer world for women.
“All I would want from men is that they’d listen, believe in us, and simply say: ‘I see it, I get it, I stand with you,’” Ross said.
She stressed that women do not hate men, contrary to what some believe. “All we want is for them to be on our side. Yet men keep failing us, and then we have to end up fighting both the harassers and the so-called ‘good men’,” she added, urging men to stop protecting abusers and making excuses for them.
