Today would have marked Daphne Caruana Galizia’s 61st birthday. In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, her sister Mandy Mallia urged everyone to “spare a thought for Daphne.”

In her message, she reflected on how, even though eight years have passed, Daphne has still not received full justice, with their mother having passed without seeing it happen.

“Instead of us seeing dear Daphne alive, free and doing her own thing, it is the alleged mastermind of her cold-blooded and horrific murder who is free as a bird, with no date yet in sight for his trial.”, she wrote.

Mandy added that “Malta failed Daphne in life” and now the justice system continues to fail her posthumously.

She concluded her message with a heartfelt note to Daphne herself, saying how she remains missed in our lives and that we owe her so much.

The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation also remembered the journalist writing, “It’s a mundane Tuesday for many, but it’s Daphne’s birthday – a reminder to continue fighting for justice and pushing for change, today and every day.”
