Young British Woman Frustrated By Unspoken ‘Sexist’ Door Policy Denied Entry To Five Paceville Strip Clubs

A 26-year-old British dancer who was barred from entering a number of Maltese strip clubs has aired out her frustration at not being allowed in due to her being a woman.

In a public post on Reddit, the Briton explained how she attempted to enter five strip clubs, all for nought, and was soundly rejected all around.

“I went out in Paceville and was turned away from five different clubs because I am a woman (for the record I work in one myself and was planning to spend money not just giggle and gawk; I know how these places work and I said as much to a bouncer who tried to tell me I’m just gonna go in for a drink and leave – as if there aren’t men who do that!),” she said in her post.

“I tried to argue (diplomatically, of course) and ask for relevant legal legislation etc and no one could give me any they just told me “if you have problem talk to police”, which I did, and they were just as useless and unable to give me any relevant reason why I should be discriminated against. One of the house mums even threatened to punch me when I came back with three guy friends and in hindsight I’m kicking myself for not trying to do her for verbal assault,” she continued.

“I was dressed in an upscale-looking jumpsuit (not revealing at all other than bare arms) with an updo, and I’ve got an engagement ring on my finger. None of them even asked me questions to possibly try and determine if I had ulterior motives, and no one looked at my ID. I was turned away on the spot at all five places,” she said.

“This happened several weeks ago and I’m still fuming about it. Does anyone have any idea how or why this is legal?,” she asked. “The best I could get out of one of the policemen was that the country is messed up. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.”

“Why do women constitute a privacy issue but not men?”

She listed the strip clubs that barred her – White Palace, Stiletto, Steam, The Darlings, Angels – and asked for reasons as to why the bouncers wouldn’t have let her in.

Some commenters who seemed to have a knowledge of Maltese strip clubs gave two reasons as to why she would have been barred.

“There’s a chance that you meet your Significant Other there and that might cause trouble and disturb other guests, or you might draw attention away from the girls and guys might be inclined to hit on you instead of watching and tipping the girls,” one person said. “The first point might not fit with you but the bouncers and club owners don’t know you and nobody knows your character therefore they’re not going to take that chance.”

One person just said: “Maltese women are big gossips”.

She also said she had previously left negative comments and reviews about the clubs’ door policy on their social media pages but claimed they were removed after she called the clubs’ policies “sexist”.

She eventually made it into one strip club – along with a male escort

“I did manage to get smuggled in to Club Class with a group of guys, but I hadn’t tried it myself first so there is no knowing whether they would have let me in solo. I was rejected from the other clubs even with a group of guys (although by that point they knew my face).”

“I’m just really disappointed to be honest as prior to that I was having a great time but it really left me with a bad taste as I said. I’ve been to plenty of clubs in countries not so renowned for being open/accepting and never had this problem. I’m honestly just trying to understand the rationale.”
