Remember when you used to plant your face against the window and watch planes taking off at Malta International Airport?

Now you can relive those childhood memories whenever you want, as the airport has just unveiled its refurbished observation deck, and it’s open to the public 24/7.

Located on Level 3 of the terminal, the observation deck is a unique spot from where plane spotters can take in unparalleled views of the runway backdropped by the airport’s neighbouring villages.

The observation deck’s facelift forms part of the first phase of Malta International Airport’s reconfiguration project, through which €12 million is being invested in various upgrades across the terminal. Works on this project were kicked off in September 2016 and are expected to be completed before summer 2018.

The outdoor deck is perfect for summer evenings and has been kitted out with custom-designed canopies that replicate natural shade. And the entrance leading to the outdoor deck takes viewers on an immersive journey through Malta International Airport’s history.
