World-War Malta Comes To Life In Beautifully Recoloured Netflix Series
It’s easy to forget just how badly Malta had it during World War II.
Still under the thumb of British rule, surrounded on all sides by enemies and getting bombed at every turn. But 70 years later most of the scars of war have healed, many surviving combatants have passed away, and old enemies have become our allies once more.
But if you’re curious as to what being on the ground during those harrowing days was like, the Netflix series World War II In HD Colour is here to help.
The show combines original and colourised footage to really paint a picture of Malta unlike any we’ve ever seen. The addition of colour connects you to the moment. And seeing our beloved landscape being attacked is honestly heartbreaking.
But it also showcases the Maltese determination and spirit that never wavered during those hard years. There was a reason why they tried to bring us down, and why they never could. There is even the moment we were awarded the George Cross captured for all to see.
The entire documentary is worth watching, but many scenes with Malta in them are during Episode 6: The Mediterranean and North Africa.

It just goes to show that no-one, not even Nazi’s, bombs, and bullets can break our spirit.
