An Australian man bagged himself $50,000 on a television game show and he has our Meditteranean archipelago to thank for it.

During an episode of hit Australian game show ‘Millionaire Hot Seat’, one contestant came face-to-face with a question about ‘The Fortress City’ and he just about lucked out on the answer.

Facing the $50,000 question, the contestant was posed a question about ‘The Fortress City’ of Valletta and which country it belonged too..

Not many know about Malta outside the EU which is probably why it’s a whopping $50,000 question on the game show…

But what the show failed to realise is that Australia has a community of about 175,563 people of Maltese descent living there and another 37,614 Malta-born people residing there.

So really, was this that much of a hard question?

Either way, we’re glad we as a country helped this young lad secure a nice sum of $50,000 and he seemed particularly chuffed about it too.
