For many people out there, customs is the last, painful stage before you finally get that parcel you’ve been waiting for, but few know what really goes on before you get your hands on that beautiful brown box. Hoping to change that, the Malta Customs Department have released a new free mobile video game to show you what it means to be a customs official on the island.
Aptly named Nothing To Declare, the game introduces users to Reggie the customs official, your personal helper on this adventure of flagging and interrogations. Aimed at educating younger generations, the game puts users in three different scenarios; the port, the airport and the parcel office.
Different scenarios include everything from investigating undeclared and illegal goods to interrogating people who might seem like they’re carrying some pretty dodgy stuff with them.
Nothing To Declare, which was produced by the Maltese Customs Department, was developed to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the EU Customs Union.
The project was pitched by the Malta Customs Communications officer during an ECNTC meeting in Brussels and was developed locally to be disseminated across the EU member states.
Now, the video game is available for free on the Apple App store, Google Play Store, and the Amazon Store. Later this year the game will be translated in more languages.
Let us know whether you’ll manage to stop Miss “I am here to visit your lovely beaches” from walking into the country with three guns.
