Watch: All Malta’s Got Talent Judges Hit Golden Buzzer For Kid Genius Michael Schembri
Malta’s Got Talent’s aired its last round of auditions on New Year’s Day, with a child genius winning the final – and perhaps most coveted – golden buzzer of the competition.
The highly charismatic kid genius Michael Schembri got a heart-warming Golden Buzzer moment, after he flaunted his skills in solving four Rubik’s Cubes within a few seconds combined with his innate charisma.
With an IQ of 142, the 10 year-old impressed the judges so much that they collectively made the decision to give him the final golden buzzer of the show, advancing him straight to the semi-finals.
Michael is a boy of many talents – he executed his whole act whilst perfectly speaking in several different accents, including Scottish, Chinese and Indian.
He laid out four Rubik’s Cubes on the judges’ table and solved them all in just slightly over a minute; he even laughed when judge Valentina Rossi remarked that one of the more complex cubes would be hard to solve.
Michael kept calm and stayed in character the whole time even when the judges kept breaking the Rubik’s cubes.
”Not only did we break the cube, but you managed to fix it and solve it,” judge Sarah Zerafa told him.
”AND you kept relaxed… bravu,” continued Valentina Rossi.
Following the wholesome Golden Buzzer moment, Zerafa handed him one of the golden confetti that fell on the floor and told him ”isma isma… put this in your pocket and remember it forever”.
Modestly, he is later blissfully seen walking out with the piece of confetti in his hands, smiling in contentment.
Lovin Malta had interviewed Michael a few years ago, and as it turns out, there’s even more to him than his ability to solve Rubik’s Cubes.
He can name all of the world’s countries, read 23 different languages, decipher every flag, and solve a Rubik’s Cube with one hand.
”Children come to us the way they’re supposed to… we’re not a super academic family. For me, the fact that they’re happy is the most important thing, with Michael, he finds joy and happiness in learning,” the mother of the young genius said.
Whilst most kids start saying their first few words at the age of one, Michael was already ”stringing small sentences together” when he was just a six-month-old baby and could outstandingly recite the alphabet backwards before he turned two years old.
Michael will now proceed straight to the semi-finals, where he will be joining other contestants. We’re excited to witness all of his future successes.
