Malta’s Amazing Outdoor Pools And Lidos

We’ve all heard that annoying response whenever we so much as hint that we might want to spend the day at a pool – “għandna baħar tant sabiħ, x’tagħm’ bih pool?”
No one is refuting our amazing beaches, but a relaxing poolside day is a different experience that we’re allowed to crave in equal measure. Luckily, we’ve got a handful of publicly accessible dream pools on the islands that more than deliver.
1. Cafe del Mar – Buġibba
Home of one of the islands’ hottest festival, the Cafe del Mare pool is an Instagrammer’s dream.
2. Kuya Beach – Sliema
This place serves Asian-inspired beach food – so much more than just an epic day at the pool.

3. The Reef Club at The Westin Dragonara Resort – St. Julian’s
Accessed through the Westin Dragonara Hotel, the reef club peninsulas have direct access to the sea. There’s an exclusive sandy cove perfect for building sand castles and paddling in the warm shallow waters.
4. The Palace infinity pool – Sliema
An infinity pool that looks over the bustling Sliema landscape is always going to be a winner.
5. Surfside Lido – Sliema
Aside from having the most awesome rock-cut sea-water mini-pools, Surfside lido has been recently renovated and looks chic AF.

BONUS: L-Aħrax
This beautiful rock formation has carved out the most perfect natural swimming pool. It’s probably the most amazing outdoor pool experience you can have in Malta. Just make sure not to pollute it with the usual lido sun-beds and other paraphernalia.
