Two years after writing popular songs like Mary Jane and Dreams, The Crowns have returned with their first single for 2017, and it marks a significant difference in both their sound and their line-up.

The single, Smoke and Mirrors, is the last song produced with the current line-up. Due to personal reasons, keyboardist Jean-Paul had to pull out of the band, and this new song is the final one which features keyboards as one of the main instruments in the band.

The new member joining The Crowns’ ranks is Sicilian guitarist Giuseppe Pecci, who the band said was the main inspiration for the drastic changes their sound went through over the past months.

Smoke and Mirrors is also clear evidence of the change in direction that the band has planned for the future. The Crowns are currently working on a new album which they’re planning to release in 2018, and if this single is any indication of the what they have in store for us in the future, then it’s definitely going to be an interesting run-up.
