And the winner is… Mariska Vella!

In an emotional and empowering ceremony at Villa Mdina, Mariska was crowned Mvintage Woman of the Year 2024, and we couldn’t think of a more deserving winner.

Mariska, the mother of the late Jake Vella, has shown incredible strength, resilience, and compassion through some of the toughest times imaginable.

After the heartbreaking loss of her son Jake, who battled the rare condition ROHHAD, she’s continued to inspire everyone around her. Despite her immense personal grief, she’s become a beacon of hope, raising awareness, supporting others, and reminding us all what resilience really looks like.

This prestigious event, now in its third year, was created by Mvintage to recognise and honour exceptional women who embody the spirit of female empowerment—something that lies at the very heart of the brand.

Born from Krystle Penza’s vision to leave a legacy for her daughter, Mvintage has grown into a household name, all while championing women and inspiring them to believe in their inner strength.

From their jewellery to events like this, Mvintage stands for uplifting women, and this year’s nominees were no exception.

The other nominees, Maja Theuma, the late Nicky Sansone, and Christa Cillia, also represent the best of Malta, each making a remarkable impact in their own way.

Whether it’s Maja’s achievements as a Paralympic swimmer, Nicky’s legacy after sharing her emotional battle against cancer, or Christa’s dedication to animal welfare, these women continue to inspire the Maltese islands.

With speeches from Lydia Abela, Isabelle Bonnici (last year’s winner), and a special message from Roberta Metsola, the night was truly one to remember.

Kudos to Mvintage for another empowering event!

Here’s to Mariska Vella, a beacon of strength and resilience, and to all the women making Malta proud.
