Mr. Rock N’ Roll Sings Foul-Mouthed International Ode To Pastizzi
A new music video dedicated to pastizzi explains all the problems associated with eating pastizzi – or, specifically, the problems that come when your girlfriend really loves pastizzi.
Pauly Fenech is an Australian-Maltese comedian known for his off-the-wall and sometimes vulgar humour, but his latest riff on the popular Maltese food snack has been getting attention online, possibly due to the relatability of consuming a product with such an infamous calorie content.
Dressed like Elvis Presley in his ‘Mr. Rock n Roll’ persona, Pauly sings about his girlfriend who loves pastizzi, lamenting how she “used to be small, but now she’s fat as a ball – she loves pastizzi more than me now,” as the video intercuts between his performance and a woman eating a pastizzi.
Using the tune to Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds’, he praises the pastizzi as a “delicious tiny pastry”, before saying that “the Maltese girls, they love pastizzi,” and that he wants to get “back into the bedroom and out of the bakery, which is where we are spending most of our time.”
The video is also apparently sponsored by “Kinnie, Malta’s original cola.”
Maltese people as well as international fans of the pastizzi lauded the comedic performance, with some saying that he didn’t need to be so rude, while others said they couldn’t stop watching.
Pauly uses Maltese comedy as part of his unsophisticated Bogan comedy routine, using these quirky cultural references to make people laugh in a classic, Bogan way.
Now that the classic pastizzi has made it into his routine, what other Maltese foods could Mr. Rock n Roll sing about in the future?
