14 Finalists, One Maltese Star: Beppe Caruana Reaches Zecchino D’Oro Finals
Young Maltese singer Beppe Caruana has been chosen as a finalist in this year’s prestigious Italian children’s music festival, Zecchino D’Oro.
He will take the stage later this month to perform the original song Toc Toc in Italian, alongside Italian co-performer Sofia Bianco.
Beppe earned his spot after a rigorous international selection process led by PBS and the Malta Council for the Arts.
Ten Maltese children had initially been chosen to audition in Sicilì, Salerno, following a local call in April. From there, three advanced to Bologna for the next stage — with Beppe ultimately making it to the final 14 songs of the 68th edition of the festival.
The young performer already has notable experience, having appeared on Malta’s Got Talent in 2022 as part of La Voix Choir, which received the Golden Buzzer. He has also performed in several theatrical productions with Masquerade, and off stage, he enjoys reading.
Beppe will now join the long line of Maltese children who have competed in Zecchino D’Oro since Malta’s first participation in 1962, when Raymond Debono won the festival with La Giacca Rotta.
This year’s finals, featuring 14 competing songs, will air on RAI 1 between 28th and 30th November.
Good luck Beppe!
