With the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, Malta is set for a much-needed long weekend before the even more-needed Christmas holidays. There’s a ton of great events happening this weekend, covering everything from Christmas events to music to women’s rights. Here are some of the coolest events happening over the weekend.

Thursday:

Squadron presents Helena Hauff

San Gwann

Beloved Maltese organisers Squadron return to the scene with one of the rising stars in electro and techno, Helena Hauff. Her sound world is intense, electrified and futuristic, so be prepared for the long haul.

Natalis Notabilis 2017 – Malta’s Christmas Village

Rabat

Watch Rabat transform its historic core into a Christmas wonderland. Over 80 stalls will form Malta’s largest Christmas Market over six days while historic buildings will be hosting various Christmas-related activities, such as the Nativity Trail within the Franciscan Friary’s Secret Garden and the Natalis Notabilis Crib Exhibition.

The APS Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale 2017

Mdina 

The Mdina Biennale will be exploring the question “what the hell am I doing here?” through a mixture of contemporary art that is sure to make you think aloud.

The home of hip-hop, r’n’b, and trap music in Malta is having red carpet event. Get dressed to the nines and get ready to turn up.

Proga – Prog The Islands

Zebbug

Following last year’s successful Archipelaprog, Malta’s very own progressive metal event grows even larger, with six insane prog bands to melt your mind with their riffs throughout the night. 

The Tale

Paceville

After taking a little time off to rest up after a busy summer The Tale is back and we’re bringing someone special to come and rock the decks for all of you: 3X UK DMC Champion and 2016 RedBull3style finalist JFB. This is a must attend for fans of turntablism.

BMX Fest

Pembroke

The fourth edition of the BMX Fest is here, and will be bringing you all the best things from the Maltese world of BMX, Skateboarding and Scooter. They’ve also got some cool tunes planned for the event.

A Life in Waves

Valletta

Electronic Music Malta an the Women’s Rights Foundation will be presenting ‘A Life in Waves’, a film exploring the life and innovations of composer and electronic music pioneer, Suzanne Ciani. Find out about her earliest days learning the piano, to her multi-million dollar advertising ventures, to her successes in the world of New Age music.

Fuzzhoneys Femmetastic Zine Launch

Pieta

From the Jumblist Movement to the Fuzzhoneys themselves, this femmetastic event is all about girl power. Feel free to wear something pink or yellow, both, or, as they advise themselves, “nothing at all!”

MADA presents Past meets Present

Hearing the word Playground ignites a certain flame with some Maltese, who remember all the great moments they’ve had there. But now the classic Prime Time is returning to take over the night – and they are calling on all troops for another stormer of a session.
