Applications Now Open For Mużika Mużika 2025

The Minister for the Arts, Owen Bonnici has announced that applications are now open for the fifth edition of Mużika Mużika, scheduled for 27th, 28th and 29th March 2025.
Applications can be submitted online until the 27th September, 2024, on the website or in person at the Festivals Malta offices in Floriana on the 26th and 27th September.
Minister Bonnici highlighted the festival’s ongoing success in achieving new milestones, not only in terms of participation but also in the quality of the songs and performances presented. He emphasised how the festival continues to enhance its esteemed reputation among Malta’s musical community, providing singers, composers and authors a prestigious platform to showcase their talent.

The minister also acknowledged the strong support and enthusiasm from audiences, which contribute to making Mużika Mużika a key cultural event in the national calendar.
Festivals Malta presented trophies to the winners of the fourth edition of Mużika Mużika. Last year’s edition was won by Maxine Pace with the song “Mhux tal-Aħħar,” featuring lyrics by Emil Calleja Bayliss and composition by Cyprian Cassar. Kantera secured second place with the song “Vjaġġ Sabiħ,” composed by Kantera and Micimago, with lyrics by Joe Julian Farrugia. Cliff Zammit Stevens took third place with “Fil-Qrib,” featuring lyrics by Joe Julian Farrugia and composition by Philip Vella. The ceremony also awarded Mro Aurelio Belli for Best Arrangement for the song “3 ta’ Ġunju 2021,” performed by Neville Refalo with lyrics and composition by Corazon Mizzi, and GIADA for Best Interpretation with the song “Imħabba Vera,” composed by Glen Vella with lyrics by Philip Vella.

During the ceremony, Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra, CEO Frans Agius, Mużika Mużika Board Chairman Raymond Bugeja and Artistic Director Paul Abela spoke about the festival’s success over the years and the upcoming fifth edition.
Preparations for the fifth edition are already underway to maintain the festival’s impeccable standards. The speakers announced that next year’s festival will feature 16 finalist songs and the first evening on Thursday, 27th March, will not be an elimination round, allowing participants to enjoy the festival more fully. Emerging and established singers, composers, authors and bands are encouraged to apply and be part of the festival’s legacy.
