Celebrating Maltese Language And Talent: Mużika Mużika Is Back

Festivals Malta has exciting news for all music enthusiasts! The applications for Mużika Mużika 2024 are now officially open, providing aspiring singers, composers, authors, and bands with the opportunity to showcase their talents. 

The application period extends until 17th October 2023, and applicants can also submit their entries in person at the Festivals Malta offices on 16th and 17th October from 9am to 4pm.

In addition to announcing the opening of applications, Minister for the Arts Owen Bonnici and Festivals Malta recently presented the winners of Mużika Mużika 2023 with their well-deserved trophies. 

The third edition of the festival, which took place from 23rd to 25th March, exceeded expectations, captivating both the performers and the audience.

The winning song of the 2023 edition was “Sabiħa,” performed by Gianluca Bezzina, written by Joe Julian Farrugia, and composed by Philip Vella. 

The song “Jekk Mhux Int,” interpreted by the duo Drakard and Lisa Gauci, written by Emil Calleja Bayliss, and composed by Cyprian Cassar, secured the second position, while “M’Hawnx Bħalek,” performed by Jasmine Abela, written by Philip Vella, and composed by Glen Vella, claimed the third spot. Festivals Malta also presented commemorative trophies to Ryan Paul Abela for Best Arrangement and Jasmine Abela for Best Interpretation.

“I am certain that Mużika Mużika of the upcoming year will also be a success and will continue to celebrate in the best way the beauty of the Maltese language that unites us and brings us together as a nation,” Bonnici said. He expressed gratitude to all the artists for their participation in the festival while congratulating the winners of this year’s edition.

Chairman Aaron Zahra, CEO Frans Agius, Board Chairman Raymond Bugeja, and Artistic Director Paul Abela expressed their satisfaction with the festival’s success and emphasised their commitment to raising the bar even higher. 

They encouraged both emerging and established artists to apply for the fourth edition of Mużika Mużika and become part of its illustrious legacy.

Mark your calendars, as the highly anticipated fourth edition of Mużika Mużika is scheduled to take place from 14th to 16th March 2024.
