Early noughties rock in Malta saw local band Scar rocket to fame. With their old-school instrumentals and new-classic vocals, they blended together and produced a sound Malta hadn’t heard before. So it was a sad time for all when they began to gradually fade into the background of the local music scene with the turn of the new decade.

So when the band took to Facebook about two months ago to announce that new music would be coming our way soon, we got very hyped! The band have had their music play on Rai Uno, and after signing a distribution deal in 2005 they were even played as far out as America.

Fans of the band will be pleased to know that the wait for new music is now over.

Scar are back with their comeback track ‘By The Way.’ An homage to their roots in music, akin to the sound of Nickelback and Three Days Grace, the video features the band in what could either be a school corridor or a New York loft, and really drives home the noughties nostalgia with a low-angle shot.

Either way, we’re loving it.

The track itself harks back to a simpler time in music, with the hook telling listeners “I want to make this right / If only I knew I’d find / This is my life now / And by the way, I’m trying to find my way.” A sense of realignment seems to be a source of inspiration for Scar’s comeback, and reflected against the classic acoustic rock backing, the track is sure to bring out the nostalgia along with their new vibes.
