Fonzu Il-Fenek Turns 10: Celebrating A Decade Of Singing The Beloved Rabbit’s Tunes
Can you believe it’s been 10 years since the singing rabbit wearing pink trousers, a bowtie and a green waistcoat first captivated thousands of Maltese kids?
“The catchy melody and the simple lyrics are two ingredients that make the song easy to sing and learn” says Suzanne Piscopo, Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta, and one of the brains behind Fonzu.

Today it would be rare to find someone who hasn’t at least come across the legend of Fonzu l-Fenek. Ever since the song’s debut on YouTube, the song’s video has taken the stage with over 1.6 million views. That’s an impressive average of more than 400 plays daily since its release.
“The aim of the project was to promote the consumption of healthy food among young children, taking into consideration the Maltese context and using the Maltese language where possible.”
