Fresh New Faces In Familiar Places, Events You Need To Attend To Wrap Up The Summer Season

Alas, summer is slowly coming to an end, and with it, most of our favourite summer parties. We will truly miss our weekly residences but that doesn’t mean you can’t catch them one last time before it’s over.

And as they always say, when one door closes…another opens! September is already jam-packed with festivals, gigs and other events that will keep you busy all month long.

So let’s get to it – our last weekly round-up of  Summer 2k19.

 

Friday 30th August

1. Denis at District

Denis Sulta is ready to make you dance at District this coming weekend. The Scottish DJ is back in Malta for what will surely be another amazing night at one of Malta’s most cherished summer venues.

2. A crafty beer evening

The second edition of the Malta Craft Beer Fest is happening this weekend at Fort St Elmo and will have some of the island’s finest brews, delicious food and awesome live music featuring The Buskers, Airport Impressions and more…

3. A highly anticipated album launch

The Ranch will be dropping their third studio album, “Together to get here To get here together” this weekend and will be hosting an album launch party at The Black Pearl in Ta’ Xbiex.

The trio (who have recently undergone a lineup change)  will be performing all 11 new tracks and will be supported by Kriz Haze ad DJ Vynil Junky.

4.  Wave-Pop to kick the weekend off

Belgian singer-songwriter Stefan Gillis, will be returning to Storeroom as part of his European summer tour, performing what is known as ‘wave-pop’ – a mix between new-wave with 80’s keyboards and vintage drum machines, and pop-rock with dreamy guitars.

5. Get down at the Kennedy’s

SterjoTipi are doing the rounds ahead of their EP launch next year and will be performing at The Kennedy Bar and Bistro in Valletta this weekend.

6. Sound Salon & G7 closing night

One of Malta’s best Friday nights is closing for the summer and we’re sad to see it go. Make sure you’re there and it your all one last time. We’ll see you next year!

Saturday 31st August

7. A rock concert in the middle of a forest

A group of talented musicians will perform a repertoire of classic rock including Queen, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Green Day and Lady Gaga in the unique setting of Chateau Buskett.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards the Terry Time Trust Foundation.

8. A musical tale about two soul sisters after the Great Siege

A combination of contemporary music, dance and visual art, BlackShip follows the tale of two soul sisters, raised by a Knight of the Order of St John, who arrive in Malta shortly after the Great Siege.

The story will be brought to life through the use of several elements including Leonardo Barilaro’s signature acoustic piano meshed with synthesisers. The evening is a collaborative effort between Leonardo and the Valletta Cultural Agency.

9. Whether it’s beef or pork, Lollipop has plenty of sausages to go around!

Lollipop is closing up its summer season with a Barbie-Q featuring Chef St John grilling some tasty tunes alongside London Queen and Meat Enthusiast, and Ian Vale.

10. Another closing night for one of Malta’s favourite summer events

The Guest List is waving goodbye to an incredible second season with one final send-off featuring Carlo Gerada, Alessia De Martino, Mykill, Seb Sooka and Supre.

Sunday 1st September

11. Live music at MUŻA

Sunday brings you live jazz at MUŻA restaurant’s open courtyard featuring a talented local duo, Joe Debono on piano and singer Francesca Galea.

12. Sunday chillouts

An exclusive location, vibrant ambiance, delicious food, and exquisite drinks, Skybeach is the place to be on a Sunday afternoon. Sip your cocktail by the pool with DJ Benè Marshall providing you with tasty tunes all day long.
