A whole lotta love at Mużika Mużika this year!

Mużika Mużika is edging closer and we are nearing the end of our artists spotlight series. If you haven’t yet read the last instalment, make sure to take a look here.

Without further ado, let’s meet today’s artists, shall we?

Give it up for Raquel, Kelsey Bellante, Giada and Gianluca.

Who are we, really?

Raquel will be singing Min Aħna?, written and composed by AIDAN. She asks an age-old rhetorical question. Who are we, really?

Her song Min Aħna? is all about self-reflection. Fresh from a bad break-up (let’s face it, we’ve all been there), the song’s protagonist doubts who she is after losing everything whilst trying to save a love that was doomed from the get go.

But who is Raquel? For those of you who saw the first edition of Mużika Mużika, you surely remember Raquel and her song Vizzju. The beautiful song, coupled with Raquel’s unique interpretation, made a memorable impact on audiences long after the festival, with the song even topping local music charts.

She’s also no stranger to other local competitions, with performances during the Eurovision Song Contest, Rockestra, and L-Għanja tal-Poplu, among others.

Soulmates, true love and dreaming

Kelsey Bellante will be belting the stage with her song Nistenniek, composed by Cyprian Cassar and written by Emil Calleja Bayliss.

Kelsey is just 21 years old and she’s already killing it in the local music scene, with electrifying performances on X Factor Malta and X Factor Lithuania. She also represented Malta in the 2022 Dubai Expo, and has several original songs, with her latest one being Guilty Love.

Her song Nistenniek, is about searching, and waiting for your soulmate, that special person that is perfectly made for you. The protagonist can only dream and hope that one day this fantastical love can one day come true.

We just can’t wait to see what Kelsey will be to Mużika Mużika!

Kelsey is not only an amazing singer, but also a talented make-up artist, specialising in special effects makeup!

Going solo, with a potential wedding song?

Giada presents Rumanz, written by Keith Zammit and composed by Andrew Zammit.

A returning face to Mużika Mużika, this year she decided to fly solo, and will be competing against her father Ian Vella (who is currently a member of the group CODA)!

At just 23 years old, Giada has several local and international performances under her belt, including the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, X Factor Malta, L-Għanja tal-Poplu, and even winning a prestigious festival in Romania!

This year, Giada will be competing with the song Rumanz, a song about true love. The songs takes us on a beautiful journey through the raw and passionate emotions one feels when discovering love for the first time. Giada in fact tells us that she dedicates this song to all the lovebirds out there …. who knows maybe Rumanz could be your wedding song next year?

What most people don’t know about Giada is that her full-time job is in banking! That’s quite a different way of picturing Giada from her powerhouse performances on stage.

Our Maltese heart-throb singing doctor

Gianluca Bezzina performs Sabiħa, written by Joe Julian Farrugia and composed by Philip Vella.

Malta’s cutest heart-throb has decided to take his chances to join the Mużika Mużika Hall of Fame: Gianluca Bezzina!

Most of you know Gianluca as the singing doctor from his 2013 Eurovision performance which fared quite well across charts all over Europe. He comes from a family of singers and musicians, with all his siblings, his parents and even grandparents being musically gifted.

In fact his grandfather is none other than Gaetano Kanta, one of the first exponents of the Maltese language in music which he used to transmit through the Rediffusion.

Gianluca tells us that his song Sabiħa, speaks about the universal language of love and how we should cherish our loved ones as much as we can. In fact, he says that while he is singing this song, he always thinks of his wife Vanessa, who is the love of his life.

We’re sure that Vanessa will be proudly cheering for her husband while he’s performing on the Mużika Mużika stage!

A curious fact about Gianluca is that while a lot of people associate him with festivals, Mużika Mużika is only the second time that he’s competing in a festival as a soloist, the first time was back in 2013!

We hope you enjoyed reading about these Mużika Mużika participants.

Make sure you buy your tickets from mużikamużika.mt to come and watch their performances live at MFCC.

Stay tuned for our final artists showcase coming up soon!
