From The Jazz Fest To Pool Parties And Acid House, This Weekend In Malta Is Going To Be A Big One

There’s no slowing down for Malta this summer as this weekend is primed to be another BIG one for music.

So you better start planning because these are some events you cannot miss!

Friday 19th July

1. Some of the best musicians in the jazz world are coming to Malta

Legendary drummer Omar Hakim and his brilliant wife/pianist Rachel Z will be performing some high calibre jazz alongside their band Ozymosys this weekend. 

Catch them at Ta’ Liesse in Valletta at 8:30pm.

2. BBQ, Cocktails and a whole lot of ‘Molly’

Molly is an all-inclusive pool party with a shisha area and pool games. Hosted at the Movida Lido, Molly features live music including a singer, saxophonist and some of Malta’s hottest local DJs.

3. Bring back the frosted tips and three-quarters pants, Sound Salon is taking us back to the 2000s

Sound Salon are bringing out the time machine for a night of nostalgia and unmistakably good vibes. Be one of the first to experience Gianpula’s revamped main stage featuring some of Malta’s best DJs for the SS throwback to the ’00s. 

Saturday 20th July

4. If you got a €15 bill put your hands up…

.. because that’s how much it’s going to cost you to see legendary hypeman Fatman Scoop perform at OMNIA this weekend!

5. One of the island’s newest alt-rock bands will be rocking their new single

Overdrawn will be performing at Rumors this weekend, where you can expect them to play their new single – Until I Go.

6. Saturdays at Marrakech continue on their hot streak

This weekend at Marrakech promises a night of phat beats, neon lights and special effects thanks to the grand return of The Guestlist. They only ask that you show up in bright colours… they’ll take care of the rest.

7. One of the most respected acid artists of our time is in Malta

London duo Posthuman have been integral in the build-up to the modern Acid House scene, and will bring their unique sound to Liquid this Saturday.  

8. Like Glitch Festival, but every weekend

For those of you who can’t wait until Glitch Festival next month, this event is for you. Club Phoenix will be bringing the same intensity of the festival to its doors, catering to everything from Disco to House, Acid to Techno. And next up is a fine selection of some of the finest local talents.

9. A reggae boat party to the Blue Lagoon

This reggae ride leaves from Sliema Ferries at 7pm where it will begin its journey to the Blue Lagoon. The boat will be stocked up with food, cocktails and most importantly, a sweet playlist of Reggae/AfroBeats that you’ll be able to jam to all night long.

10. US and Maltese musicians team up for an afternoon of jazz

Saxophonist Rino Cirinna will perform alongside pianist Joe Debono for a midday jazz session at Misraħ Il-Ħelsien.

The duo will perform an hour set from 12:30 – 1:30 pm.

11. An underground DJ’s live set at Gianpula

A man who shouldn’t need much introduction, underground producer, DJ and dance floor master LEO POL is hitting Malta’s shores this weekend for a live set at FatFunk’s fifth year party at Gianpula.

Sunday 21st July

12. Indian Heavy Metal to close the weekend

Kryptos are considered as the pioneers of Heavy Metal in India and have performed amongst the likes of legends such as Iron Maiden. They’ll be playing The Garage this Sunday, where they will most definitely put up a show of Heavy Metal mayhem.
