Italy’s Wacky Eurovision Song Is Officially The Most Watched In History

It sounds easily like any summer hit that would blast over Maltese radio channels – becoming the soundtrack to group drives to Riviera, drunken wedding dances, and one of Magic Radio’s five songs played on a loop.

But it’s actually Italy’s Eurovision entry for this year – Occidentali’s Karma – and it’s officially the most watched Eurovision song on YouTube in history. And it’s not surprising seeing as it’s catchy AF.

The song has hit over 86 million views on YouTube – we’re guessing owing to the quirky visuals and totally sing-along-able melody. Francesco Gabbani’s pleasant voice wafts out into a weird world of tea-drinking, gorilla-break-dancing, and – of course – yoga.

Gabbani snatches the YouTube title from former Italian contestants, Il Volo – the male trio who’s song Grande Amore from 2015 has 85.9 million views. Considering that Conchita Wurst – a Eurovision star who enjoyed international fame – has around 29 million views for her 2014 entry Rise Like A Phoenix, the numbers for Gabbani are pretty colossal!

To date Ira Losco‘s Walk on Water is the Maltese Eurovision entry with the most views on YouTube with over 8 million views.

Next year, let’s try a dancing gorilla and/or kimono.
