‘Kulħadd Jiġri Għarwien’: Maltese Woman Pens Hilarious Poem In Response To Scantily Clad Festival Attendees
Regardless of all the music festivals dotting calendars all over Malta’s warm season, the islands might still not be used to (or emotionally ready for) a fully-fledged British festival, at least as far as the outfit choices go.
Returning to the north of Malta for its fifth consecutive year, the insanely popular Lost & Found festival (at least as far as its international crowd is concerned) was the subject of many a shocked and scandalised post on Facebook over the weekend.
While many argued on whether the revellers should’ve been left to enjoy their best life or whether they should at least cover their scantily clad selves on their way to the festival venues, one Facebook user took a different, more poetic approach.
Posting on the aptly named Poe?iji Maltin Facebook group but since this morning shared all over social media, Charmaine Vella’s poem is equal parts cheeky and shady.
Vella details how she supposedly had a dream that everyone was naked in imagery straight out of the Garden of Eden. “Everyone showing us what they have, everyone naked,” she quips, going on to say that the people seem to have now disregarded any “extra meat” and that “body hair isn’t a problem anymore”.
“The clothes shops can close,” the poem continues, shadily adding “how easy it is to live life always naked”. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Maltese poem without the sly reference to this being “l-aqwa ?mien” (the best of times).
Within hours, the poem received hundreds of likes, being shared a couple of dozen times and getting a great amount of praise and its own fair share of likes.
