Article Featured Image

You may know him as ‘loud gangster rapper’ Eddie Fresco, but those close to him know him as Lydon Borg Bonaci, a quiet 21-year-old with a troubled past who is channelling his anger and frustration into creating powerful trap and underground hip hop music that’s reverberated well beyond the islands’ shores.

Welcome to Eddie Fresco’s world…

The Maltese rapper had a particularly rough childhood, losing both his parents within six weeks and just as he was beginning his teenage years; a particularly vulnerable time for any kid to lose both his mother and father.

But instead of wallowing in self-pity, a young Lydon resorted to the power of writing and music as his cathartic coping mechanism; starting off with short poems before becoming fully engulfed in the world music.

And so the seed that grew to become Eddie Fresco was planted…

By the time he was 18 years old, Lydon had gathered enough material and confidence to begin taking his musical career more seriously and released his first single under his Hollywood-esque stage name Eddie Fresco …

It wasn’t the most explosive of starts for the young rapper, but it was a start.

Soon after, Lydon would release a barrage of tunes both as Eddie Fresco and his newly-formed super rap trio 215 Collective, and that’s when things started to really kick off…

215 became an instant hit, releasing two songs in a year that racked up a total of 60k views, a huge and unprecedented feat for a Maltese hip hop group.

As 215 took off, Lydon was determined to take Eddie Fresco to the next level.

Years of planning and preparation proved too much for 215 alone and before we knew it, Eddie Fresco had released his first seven-song EP titled ‘A Soul For Mine’.

Eddie Fresco had landed…and he was here to stay.

A Soul For Mine was Lydon’s jet fuel that kicked his career into overdrive.

By the time 2019 hit, Eddie Fresco had easily become one the biggest names in Malta’s hip hop scene and people were expecting big things from the 21-year-old. Big things that Lydon was more than ready to deliver.

International tours, releases on a monthly basis, collabs with international rappers and a business relationship with one of the biggest names in the scene right now, Trash Gang, who exposed Eddie’s music to over 250k views on their channel…

After teasing it for a while, Eddie hit his fanbase with the news they wanted to hear, that a full-length album was on the way.

‘INCOGNITO’ would be the first release from the rapper’s already illustrious career and it landed in full force on September 6th, 2019 featuring a whopping 12 tracks and several special guests including Sadgasm, Yung Belial and Freewill.

And he did it with the notorious Eddie Fresco confidence and thick skin attitude that he built up over the years of hardship and sacrifice in the form of a killer and rowdy album launch party…
